World Heritage Site

The rugged landscape of North Wales has finally been recognised for all its beauty and awarded World Heritage Status by UNESCO.

There are a total of 1092 UNESCO World Heritage Sites with only 33 bring in the UK. Wales previously had 3 sites which were the Castles and Town Walls of Edward I at Caernarfon, Conwy, Beaumaris and Harlech located in north-west Wales. Blaenavon industrial lansdscape in South East Wales and Pontcysyllte Aquaduct and Canal in north-east Wales.

The mountainous region of North Wales once dominated by slate quarries, now plays a key role in the outdoor pursuits sector with a number of old disused sites being transformed and regenerated into a playground for adrenalin junkies. Some sites can work in harmony together with Zip World being based at the fully operational Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda, North Wales. This is the largest slate quarry in the workd and now baosts the fastest zip wire aswell. A new site has recently been added further South in Aberdare, occupying the former Tower Colliery site.

The slate used in all our wine racks is sourced from these very mountains, in and around the Snowdonia area. A combination of old disused tips where we can recycle old waste slate and a number of smaller operational quarries. Hand picking the slate from the quarry ensures we get the very best slate with zero wastage. Our most popular designs range from medium size racks to larger extravagant wine racks which double up as works of art in their own right.
